Delegation Formation Programme

The formation programme for the candidates who would like to join the Oblates takes them in different stages starting with the Pre-novitiate programme. This programmes is done at the Oblate Formation Centre in Lusaka. This runs for two years and is tailored for the spiritual and academic growth of the candidates.

After that the candidates leave for the novitiate. Three novitiates are presently a possibility: Johannesburg, RSA; Doebra, Namibia; and Godfrey in USA. This is a one year programme that zeros in on the spiritual growth of the candidates. This is the official year of initiation into the Oblate way of life.

At the end of the novitiate year the candidates give commit themselves to the work of the Lord by making their first Oblations. After this they proceed to the Scholaticate where they will take up their studies in Phylosophy and theology in preparation for priesthood or brotherhood.

Regency is an integral part of the formation programme for the Zambia Delegation. This takes one year and is normally done in one of the missions in Zambia. It aims at making the candidates aware of the needs of the people among which they will work in the future. It also makes the candidates to evaluate the mission of the Oblates before they actually commit themselve to the Oblate way of living for life
